Do the Solar Buddies Come With Sunscreen
No. The Solar Buddies are an empty vessel that allows you to fill with a sunscreen of your choice.
What Sunscreens Are Best To Use With My Solar Buddie?
We always recommend using sunscreens with a medium to thick consistency as thinner sunscreens can leak. It is also advised to use a sunscreen low in alcohol as alcohol can affect adhesive.
How Can I Tell If My Sunscreen Is High In Alcohol?
When checking the ingredients of your sunscreen you will be able to roughly tell how much alcohol is in it by how far up the list it is shown. The higher up the list it is the higher the alcohol content.
Are There Any Brands I Should Avoid?
Most sunscreens work great with Solar Buddies, but we have found that P20 and Ambre Solaire can affect the adhesive and cause the sponge to detach from the Solar Buddie head.
I’m Trying To Use Thicker Sunscreen But It Wont Make It Past The Roller Ball - Help!
Sometimes thicker creams need a little help to get to the rollerball. You can do this by giving your Solar Buddie a good old tap. We call it ‘the ketchup tap!’
Can My Solar Buddie Be Washed - If So, How?
Yes the Solar Buddies can be washed. We recommend you do this every time the vessel becomes empty in luke warm soapy water. The heads need to be washed on a more regular basis to stop the head becoming clogged with sunscreen they then need to be left to air dry. The Solar Buddies are NOT dishwasher safe. If you are not going to be using the solar buddie for a while we recommend emptying, washing and storing until you need it again.
How Long Do The Solar Heads Last For?
The lifespan of the heads depends on how it is used and cared for. We recommend the Solar Buddies are cleaned after the vessel becomes empty. The heads need to be washed on a more regular basis to stop the head becoming clogged with sunscreen. Do not leave the Solar Buddie in direct sunlight or temperatures that exceed 30C. If in extreme heat keep your Solar Buddies in a shaded place. Do not use sunscreens high in alcohol as this can affect the adhesive. If all directions are followed the Solar Buddies can last in excess of 6-8 weeks. For example our Solar Buddie lasted nearly 5 months before I decided to swap it out for a fresh one. This was on one child (as recommended – 1 per child) but obviously if you are using it on more family members it may not last as long.
I Left My Solar Buddie In The Hot Sun And The Next Day The Sponge Fell Off - Help!
The Solar Buddies cannot withstand direct heat above 30C as it will interfere with the adhesive. It is best to leave your Solar Buddies in a bag or in the shade to avoid any issues. Do not leave your Solar Buddie in your car on a hot day.
Am I Entitled To A Replacement?
It depends on the circumstances. If all directions of use have been followed correctly we will investigate further. Contact us directly with the issues you have faced and we can determined the next steps.
Do I Need To Return The Product
Yes it will need returning to be inspected for any fault / sun – heat damage please contact your retailer.
Solar Buddies recommendations.
It is recommended that the bottle not to be shared due to hygiene purposes, if you have any skin conditions or any concerns, please seek advice from your GP before use.
It’s recommended that the sponge unit be replaced every 2/3 months if in constant use.
If using at a beach, ensure no sand enters the roller ball or sponge as it could stop the buddies from working to its full potential.
Remove any excess sand from body before applying lotion.
Solar Buddies work with most sunscreens. We advise not to use oily or watery type sunscreens (e.g Sprays) as they can leak. For us conventional sunscreens from ‘squeezy’ bottles work best. Thicker creams can work but may need a little help getting to a roller ball. If you have any questions about the best products to use please do get in touch! See above for our FAQ’s.
